Richard Puddifoot and his crew on Whippa Snappa are the overall winners of the Solent Series of one day regattas. Andy Johns and David Rolfe in Shadowfax secured a solid 2nd with Jeff Worboys and Workout just taking 3rd From Dave Crawforth's Sigress. The final event was lost due to lack of breeze, but it was nice to have 8 Sigma 33s tied up at Trinity Pier and the crews enjoying the hospitality of the RCYC on their fantastic sundeck in the late September sun.
This year we mixed committee boat starts with shoreline (mainly to keep the costs down). We also introduced a multi race day, with lots of starts and short races. We are planning a similar program next year so please post your thoughts and comments on the type of racing you are looking for
The days are a great way to put your Sigma33 and the crew through their paces and are designed to be fun and competitive days. Its also a great way of getting the fleet together outside of RTI and Cowes week and swap tips on racing, cruising etc. There seems to be 3 or 4 new Sigma owner’s intent on racing in 2010 so we hope to get numbers into double figures!
Well done Richard - lets not make it easy for him next year!!
