Class Championship 2014

Post by Donald McLaren » Wed Nov 13, 2013 9:54 am

Time to start a thread on the 2014 event which will be at Abersoch and hosted by South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club. Dates are as previously mooted - 20th to 22nd June. The clash with the Round the Island Race is noted and is regrettable, but with the geographical spread of the fleets it is hard to find a date that dosn't clash with someone's favourite event. The 2015 Championship is scheduled for the South Coast of England, and hopefully it will be easier to avoid a recurrence of this problem.

UPDATE 21st NOV: Information/Prospectus document now produced by SCYC and attached to this post.
UPDATE 31st DEC: NOR and Entry Form now also attached.
UPDATE 28th JAN: Info / NOR / Entry Form all updated to reflect Harken support for the event.

Thanks Donald

We did manage to avoid clash with ISORA 2014 :)

I also think that timing is as good as it can get - Round the Republic race starts 28th

As the Championship is now only a matter of weeks away I thought it might be time to generate a bit of chat on the forum. We will be bringing Partisan up from Neyland Yacht Clup on Milford Haven and are looking forward to the event. It will be pretty much the only time we will have sailed the boat against other Sigmas, a foray to Kinsale a few years ago excepted. It will make a welcome change to sail boat for boat and not just moan about the Impala handicap!

I thought it would be good to have an idea how many other boats there may be as I cannot see anything on the SCSC website to indicate the level of interest

Post a response if so inclined if you will be attending; any tips for a newcomer would be welcome

Dan

Thanks for your post. We - Polished Manx hope to be there. Have you paid and register?

I will ask Gilly - Organiser how many has registered already.

Hints? Well I am probably not best suited to give any advises, this will be our 5 Championship I believe and as said by someone in the past:
start racing and slowly climb the score board :)

Have you seen results of Scottish Series this year? New boats are coming up. I bet it will be hot in Abersoch

Dear Dan,
Thank you for entering and we are looking forward to meeting you and welcoming you to Abersoch. It will be great racing on the water with 4 races planned for the first two days and 3 on Sunday and then lots of good social time in the bar off the water to get to meet all your fellow Sigma sailors from all over the UK and Ireland. We are a friendly bunch. Best wishes
Gilly Lee. Event Organiser

Championship in Abersoch - guys if you are short of crew don't worry we have people (serious Sigma sailors) who would love to do that but are boatless.

Let's not lack of crew stop you from coming. Let's talk please. Our association web + Face Book is best forum for that.
