What no Wind!
Well guys what a days racing. We were pleased to see that Royal Corinthian Yacht Club did not hang around with the start, and offered the best course they could with the expected wind.
With the first race on the way, we in Sigress felt pretty pleased only looking at the stern of Alexa and the bows of everybody else, until Whipper Snapper took a chance and popped its kite and the rest of the fleet followed suit. We hesitated to our cost choosing to sit it out round the first mark, and how long did that take to get round!
Now in 6th place we rounded and drifted down to the leeward mark, as we approached we lost wind and steerage having to drop anchor to spin us round. Still we gained a place as Shadowfax somehow dropped their anchor when what wind did full in, and took it up again when it passed! Oops
Eventually the race was abandoned with all boats heading to the bar to wait for any wind to fill in, which it failed to do.
It was a lovely day out, socializing with other Crews courtesy of RCYC, although they did run out of decent beer. Just as well, driving home may have been difficult had they had a full stock.
