Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta 2013

Post by Donald McLaren » Wed Apr 17, 2013 12:27 pm

There are already 10 Sigmas entered for this year's DL Regatta, 11-14 July, and the Early Bird discount on entries expired on 22nd April. "Leaky Roof" will be attending from the Clyde, and all of us who have competed at DL will vouch for the outstanding social scene! ("Sigmatic" will be playing dominoes with the other pensioners ... too much!)

I am delighted to see our association being so well represented. We might be "old and bold" but we are still going very strong.

10 Sigmas in VOLVO
5 in Fastnet

I wonder how many in:
Scottish Series (Alan we are not doing it this year - has to concentrate on OFF SHORE stuff) and
West Highland Week.
Cowes Week

could anyone help me with "head count"?

VOLVO Regatta DAY TWO UPDATE:

After 3 races in Sigma Class standing as follows:

1. White Mischief - 1,1,2 = 4
2. Leaky Roof - 2,2,3 = 7
3. Rupert 4,3,1 = 8

Full results: http://dublinbayregatta.org/results2013/s33_os.html

In coastal class Sigmas didn't do that well, or I can put it that bigger boats were in their element with excellent wind conditions (9-18kts) and therefore

Polished Manx was 11th and Miss Behavin - 13th

Overall results are still not available

White Mischief - absolute winner, however LEAKY ROOF were on their heels all the time.
Ruppert defintely deserved 3rd place too, for being consistently ...3rd :)

OFF SHORE:

Sigmas could have been better - but only probably by one position. We lost to big boats and ... SADLER 34, boat we shouldn't. But Lady Rowana was just ... better sailed this year.

Miss Behavin came 9th and Polished Manx 10th (1 point difference).

Sigmas still beat 5 other much bigger boats. (Yes I always see glass half full :) )
